Yes, there is a so-called “handmade doll community”.
Not least because the social networks make it pretty easy to communicate and stay in touch. Be it for dolls makers among themselves as well as the admirers of their work. This can be positive and fruitful on a creative common ground. It is great when collaborations arise along with friendships. The community gives each other support, encourages and helps each other. Based on the common passion for the handmade dolls and beyond.
There has been some hard feelings and arguments about stealing creative content and such in a german sewing facebook community lately, which got quite out of hand. So some of sewing label and blog ladies got together and made the video below, to reimind everyone that we are in this together, pursueing a common passion.
They mainly state the importance of supporting each other and unity.
A Statement to the sewing community
I would like to join in on that. I think it’s important to work together instead of against each other. Being more understanding, sharing knowledge, helping, being honest, giving mutual support, and practice solidarity. In the long run that is the only thing that counts – the togetherness and community. The sharing of knowledge, advice and assistance, and over all the common passion.
Everyone should heed this message of a “we” , because it can be transfered easily- not only on the dollmakers scene, the sewing community, creatives in general or facebook groups – but to all people who live their live with love and a bruning passion for something dear to their heart.
So be kind, be gentle …and share!
Because WE all, we SHARE a common passion!
